The body “of a neonate was found in a portable restroom in the camping area at the Electric Forest festival Sunday morning,” Michigan State Police said in a statement.
A worker with the restroom vending company made the discovery during routine maintenance, police added.
The four-day event was held at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, which is about 60 miles northwest of Grand Rapids.
“Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance,” police said. “If you were in the area and observed anything unusual, or if you have information that you believe may be relevant, we encourage you to come forward.”
Police were expecting massive travel delays in and around Rothbury on Monday as festivalgoers head home.
The four days and nights were filled with electronic dance music and headline acts such as Illenium, Excision, Kaskade, GRiZ, Chris Lake and The String Cheese Incident.
