ZSL’s Around the World quest launches on 1 June 2025, with participants asked to set themselves a distance target for the month, and secure sponsorship to celebrate their work to achieve it. Every movement that Around the World participants make is added to a combined tracker – with ZSL aiming to achieve a total distance of 40,075km, a full lap of the Earth.
Wildlife fundraisers can make like a dormouse and commit to travel 2km a day (approximately 2,500 steps) or earn their stripes with an ambitious 8km a day (10,000 steps) and match the distance covered by a Bengal tiger.
ZSL is competing in a race of its own to protect endangered species and restore precious habitats before it’s too late, with the international conservation charity working in the UK and in more than 80 countries around the world. From investigating whale strandings around the English coastline, tackling illegal wildlife trade in Thailand, to reintroducing Extinct in the Wild snails to French Polynesia, ZSL’s work spans the globe – but it needs support to continue to meet the needs of the planet.
Taking part in Around the World couldn’t be easier – participants can take part anywhere, any way and any time, and people of all abilities and fitness levels can join in. Those who rise to the challenge will also have the chance to nab themselves some wild goodies – fundraisers who raise more than £30 will get a ZSL t-shirt, and those who raise more than £100 can get two free tickets to ZSL’s London or Whipsnade Zoo.
Every step taken and pound raised for Around the World will support ZSL’s global conservation efforts. Please visit: www.zsl.org/AroundtheWorld to find out more and sign up to help ZSL create a world where wildlife thrives.
