All eyes will be on Thomas Tuchel as he continues to build towards England’s World Cup bid next summer
England return to World Cup qualifying action hoping to build on a strong start to life under Thomas Tuchel.
A perhaps overmatched Andorra are the opposition in game three in Group K for Tuchel’s side, with this fixture relocated to Barcelona with the Pyrenean state’s national stadium unavailable. England have been working hard with a warm-weather camp in Catalonia ahead of the game as Tuchel sets the high standards he expects of his side as they begin to build towards next summer’s major tournament.
A nation that have never scored against England are perhaps not the opponent to best test Tuchel’s team but the manager will be keen to see some of his squad back in action. Several will be off to the Club World Cup after this qualifier and the friendly against Senegal that follows, underlining the hectic schedule with which top footballers have to contend, and some rotation is likely as Tuchel begins to settle on his favoured system and side.

90 mins: Madueke goes for a one-two with Kane but Olivera outmuscles him off the ball.
Andorra have the ball, Lopez crosses from the back line into space, but England clear. Kane is surrounded on the edge of the box and draws a foul.
Bellingham is replaced by Gibbs-White.
86 mins: An insipid performance. England pass the ball about between themselves for a bit.
82 mins: England have a free-kick, 22 yards out just to the left of goal. James blasts over the bar and covers his face with his shirt. Dreadful.
Andorra make another change: Guillen off for De Las Heras.
81 mins: Tuchel, perhaps unnerved by that Andorra chance, makes two more changes. Rogers and Jones are replaced by Gordon and Rice.
76 mins: Having literally just typed that, Andorra have a rare chance! Vales plays a nice backheel to Lopez, getting the better of Burn, but his shot takes a deflection off Konsa and there’s no-one in the box to latch onto the rebounding ball.
75 mins: Madueke lays it off for Bellingham on the overlap, who crosses in for Eze. His dinked header is tipped over the crossbar by Alvarez!
The positive for England is even if they don’t score again, Andorra don’t look like doing so either.
More Andorra changes: Vales comes on for Babot, Rubio for Borra.
72 mins: The cameras pan to Tuchel, who cuts a more animated figure than most of his players on the touchline. More intensity, he seems to be saying.
Jones cuts back from the back line into acres of space in the box, but has no teammate to receive.
71 mins: England win an 11th corner. Eze punts a short wide from the edge of the box.
67 mins: Madueke wins a corner as Garcia tumbles into him down the right flank. Alexander-Arnold’s first touch will be from the corner; his delivery is towards Bellingham at the far post but an Andorra defender knocks it out of the box. England come again, but Marc Garcia sends it out for another corner.
Another Alexander-Arnold delivery is headed away.
65 mins: Changes for both sides. Palmer and Henderson are off, for Eze and Alexander-Arnold. Marc Garcia and Lopez come on for Fernandez and Rodrigo.
