September 9, 2026 by quixnet

Here’s Wednesday’s news, Daily Briefing readers:
Nicole Fallert here, signing off the Daily Briefing for the last time. It’s been a newsy four years at the helm of this newsletter and I’ve been so grateful to inform readers like you of the news to know every day. You’ll be in good hands with our new writer, Mallorie Sullivan, who you will meet tomorrow!
A nationwide class-action lawsuit alleges Amazon failed to make basic workplace accommodations for potentially thousands of currently and previously pregnant employees, and then fired them or threatened to fire them when they took breaks or time off for pregnancy-related reasons.
One mother listed as a plaintiff in the lawsuit, Willamina Barclay, 38, said she called out of work while providing Amazon with a same-day doctor’s note explaining she was sick, suffering a pregnancy-related condition. Amazon fired her four days later, according to the complaint.
“We take every team member’s situation seriously, and when we find that we got something incorrect, we work hard to make it right,” an Amazon spokesperson wrote to USA TODAY.
US Open 2026
American Ben Shelton defeated Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the latest night in US Open history. Shelton will face Frances Tiafoe in an All-American semifinal on Friday.
Lindsay Clancy trial
Jurors are sharing more about what happened behind the scenes in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial. According to three jurors, the holdout juror who prevented Clancy from being found not guilty by reason of insanity was an “arrogant” man who disregarded evidence.
