With a chance to face the United States in the finals, Nola will start for Team Italy against Venezuela in the World Baseball Classis semifinals on Monday, March 16.
Italy is going with Nola in a late switch after former Phillies starter Michael Lorenzen was originally scheduled to start against Venezuela.
The United States plays the winner of Monday night’s semifinal game between Italy and Venezuela in the 2026 World Baseball Classic final. Team USA lost to Italy, 8-6, in pool play.
