The U.S. men’s national team saw its World Cup dreams come to a screeching halt Monday, falling 4-1 to Belgium in the round of 16. It was a flat and uninspired performance for the USMNT, which had been outstanding for much of the World Cup on home soil. All three host nations now have been eliminated.

Cristiano Ronaldo left the pitch for the last time at a World Cup, after Spain proceeded into the World Cup quarterfinals Monday with a 1-0 defeat of Portugal. Ronaldo, 41, one of the most legendary scorers in the history of soccer, burst into tears, soaking up the final moments of the game. “I’m at peace,” he said. “I’ve given my best.”

Janet Zitting remembers the day she realized her family wasn’t like others. “I remember when I was 8 or 10, I was talking to one of the neighbor kids,” Zitting, now 32, recalls. “I’m thinking in my head, ‘Wow, she only has one mom. That’s so sad.'” Zitting’s family practiced polygamy. She was raised by her dad and four moms and she has 44 siblings. She’s gone viral on TikTok.
