One Pennsylvania hospital ranked among the nation’s best hospitals, according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2026-2027 hospital rankings.
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia was the state’s only hospital recognized among U.S. News’ Best Hospitals, a group of 20 medical centers considered the best in the nation.
The annual rankings also recognized 28 Pennsylvania hospitals as Best Regional Hospitals after 217 hospitals across the state were evaluated. Here’s which hospitals made the lists.
The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia was Pennsylvania’s only hospital recognized among U.S. News’ Best Hospitals, a group of 20 medical centers considered the best in the nation.
The hospital was also ranked No. 1 in Pennsylvania and No. 1 in the Philadelphia region. U.S. News said it was nationally ranked in 12 adult specialties and rated high performing in 19 procedures and conditions.
U.S. News recognized the following hospitals as 2026-2027 Best Regional Hospitals in Pennsylvania:
U.S. News evaluates hospitals using measures that include patient outcomes, procedures, conditions, patient experience and other quality indicators.
To be recognized as a Best Regional Hospital, a hospital must earn at least eight High Performing ratings across evaluated procedures, conditions and maternity care while meeting additional quality benchmarks.
